Hrm. My G4 IBook ran better using Debian then it did running OS X.
That is, until the low quality of Apple manufacturing destroyed it. The IBooks were plagued with problems with cold soldier joints. They didn’t heat the board up hot enough to properly flow the soldier so after a while of use the poor joints broke.. and there went your video card. Quite a common problem. People usually tried to solve it by jamming peices of paper or other things into their IBook’s case to hold down the ATI graphics chip. Unfortunately mine was a later model that couldn’t get fixed with a heat gun since a different component failed.
Now I have my Dell and it’s been much higher quality and more reliable then the Apple hardware ever was.
It was kinda nice, though, to have a non-x86 platform that was a actually decent performing computer.
Dude, you mean to say Kavin is already an Apple fan? Let’s hope he prefers Debian on his Mac
